There are two types of advantages that economists focus on when comparing countries (or other groups of individuals). A country is said to have an absolute advantage in the production of a good when it can produce that good using fewer resources per unit of output than another country. A country is said to have a comparative advantage in the production of a good when it can produce that good at a lower opportunity cost (a smaller loss in terms of the production of another good) than another country
